Puppy Raiser, Nuala Bosonett

Puppy raising has been a fantastic experience for all the family.

We started puppy raising as we felt it was good voluntary work that we could manage around our family life and allow us to have a dog in our lives that we could bring with us wherever we needed to go.

We had no idea how much joy, fun, learning and love the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind puppies would bring!

Puppy raising is extremely sociable, sparking interesting conversations with strangers and friendships with other Puppy Raisers. I have learnt so much about dog behaviour and development through the constant support and encouragement of my supervisors and the online modules.

Puppy raising has been a fantastic experience for all the family. Davey is nearly a year old now and is mad about the beach, walks in the woods and, most of all, free runs with his friends. Davey really loves donning his vest and going out and about. He has attended religious ceremonies and college graduations, enjoys shopping and travelling on the bus. At the end of the day, he loves lying on top of your feet in front of the fire.
