Employment Vision Project - Team Profile - Mary Crossin

My name is Mary Crossin from Donegal and I have just recently been appointed the Administrator position of the Employment Vision Project here in Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind. I will be providing direct administrative support to participants and staff involved in this programme, which endeavors to provide employment for those who are blind or visually impaired.

I am really enthusiastic about the prospects and opportunities that this project will establish for everyone involved. I understand the challenges encountered in seeking training and employment as I also have a visual impairment.

I have worked in a wide range of administrative roles such as the Civil Service and the District Court of NSW in Sydney. I was also employed in an equestrian establishment which facilitated Riding for the Disabled. I witnessed how beneficial the interaction between animals and those with various forms of impairments, and how this connection transformed isolation and difficulties to bring about inclusion and joy.

I am really thankful for being part of such a wonderful organisation that has a positive impact on so many people. Every day I look forward to the opportunities that this job presents and connecting with people in a supportive and encouraging environment.

In my spare time I enjoy cooking, baking, going for scenic walks and playing the harp.
