Community Dog Ulani

Ulani has quickly become a much-loved presence in our corridors, classrooms, and common spaces. More than just a friendly face, he brings comfort and calm to students who may be feeling stressed or anxious. His gentle nature and playful spirit create a welcoming atmosphere that supports student wellbeing every day.

One of Ulani’s favourite places is the Breakfast Club, which runs from Monday to Thursday. There, he greets students with a wagging tail, helping them start the day on a positive note. His popularity has even encouraged more students to attend, as they look forward to spending a few minutes with him before classes begin.

Ulani’s presence has also proven to be a wonderful motivator for students. Many are more enthusiastic about coming to school, knowing they will get to see him during the day. In fact, Ulani has his very own timetable, carefully planned to ensure he can spend time across different areas of school life, while also having plenty of rest.

Having Ulani in St Joseph’s has brought a new sense of connection, joy, and balance to our school community. He is not just a dog – he is a friend, a motivator, and a source of comfort for all of us.

We are grateful to the Irish Guide Dogs for making this partnership possible, and we look forward to many happy years with Ulani as part of our St Joseph’s family.
