Today, this incredible recognition arrived at my door. Irish Guide Dogs sent this trophy in recognition of our journey as puppy raisers for Scout.
Scout, the most amazing dog out there, spent his first year with us. It was a year of early mornings, training sessions, chewed rug and shoes, proud milestones, cuddles, and so much love. Being part of his development and initial training was a privilege.
Today, Scout is a Community Dog. Seeing the impact, he makes on the people he works with makes every moment worth it.
This experience changed our lives for the better. It taught us how powerful it is to give back to our community in practical and tangible ways. Raising Scout wasn’t always easy; we took it one paw at a time. My family (Julien Manguette and the kids) learned invaluable lessons about patience, purpose, teamwork, and what it truly means to contribute to something bigger than ourselves.
The Irish Guide Dogs do incredible work, and none of it would be possible without volunteers, supporters, and puppy raisers. If you’ve ever considered getting involved, I can honestly say it’s one of the most rewarding (and messy!) things you can do.
