I wake up every morning looking forward to taking on the day with Ezra as my partner.
Before Ezra came into my life many things were difficult. I wanted to be independent and do things on my own but travelling alone felt very unsafe and scary so I depended on a lot of others for help and support. You become very isolated from your environment. People got the impression I was rude because I didn't make eye contact or engage in visual cues. They avoided me especially when I used my name.
Then life changed with the arrival of Ezra. We have such a strong bond and I trust him completely - I feel much more confident and safe walking, especially in unfamiliar places or alone at night. With Ezra beside me people are immediately aware of my visual impairment and his presence often invites them to open up a conversation with me - I'm happy now to chat without hesitation.
Overall, I'm much happier. I wake up every morning looking forward to taking on the day with Ezra as my partner.
