Carol & Arlo

A poem by Guide Dog owner Carol about her wonderful Guide Dog Arlo.

A New Beginning

Arlo arrived with me on the 12th April 2022.

A stocky, well-built boy, with large brown eyes, a dappled brown snout, and a coat somewhere between gold and white.

With feet that land softly on the ground, as he guides me safely all around.

His rather large head, he is happy to rest upon a stranger's knee.

Travelling on the Luas or the bus, he makes great company.

After work, when the harness is shed, he likes to unwind with a good roll in the grass, a meal and chill out time before heading off to bed.

Arlo is not my first Guide Dog, in fact he is my fifth, as unique and special as each one.

A guide, a companion and great fun.
