Scully is a Standard Poodle. These beautiful dogs don’t come through our doors too often. She has a lot of energy and enjoys an active life. She plays well with other dogs and is overall good in the home. She is not a destructive dog and sleeps out of her crate.
Scully loves being off lead, however, her recall needs work. When she is on-lead she walks well wearing a harness.
She has been withdrawn from training firstly because she can be easily distracted by dogs and cats; if she is on the lead, she will likely pull toward the distraction. Secondly, she has shown a fear of men from when she was a small pup, this is just part of her nature. This presents as her barking and sometimes lunging at them; it has occurred in the home and while out with her. For this reason, she might do well with a female handler and be allowed a slow and gentle introduction to any men that form part of the family unit.
She is very boisterous and, due to her high energetic, strength and size, we would prefer to place her in a home with no young children. She does enjoy the company of older teenagers.
Overall, she is a healthy dog. She has been spayed and her vaccinations are all up to date.
We recommend that Scully receive some further training to support her behaviour challenges, and ideally her fur-ever home would be a female household.
