VOLUNTEER WITH IRISH GUIDE DOGS FOR THE BLIND
For over thirty years volunteers have been central to the work of Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind, playing an active role within all of our activities. They created the organisation, and working with our staff, have built it up to its present level. With approximately 85% of our income from voluntary donations and fundraising they have a significant role in creating our future success.
Our commitment to our volunteers will ensure that they are given the opportunity to contribute the whole of their skills and have the chance for personal development and growth through their work with us. Volunteers are actively supported by the organisation through a set of policies and procedures and through the inputs of staff, management and members of the Board of Directors.

It is complusory for our volunteers to complete the Garda Vetting Process which is a requirement of the Children First Legislation helping to create protection for both our organisation and you as a valued volunteer.
Once you receive your volunteer application and Garda Vetting Form in the post, please complete the two forms in their entirety and return to our National Headquarters & Training Centre marked "Personal & Confidential" for the attention of: Volunteer Coordinator.
Please be patient as once the form has been submitted to the Garda Vetting Unit in Thurles, Co. Tipperary, it can take anywhere from 6-8 weeks to process. We will make contact as soon as we receive clearance from the Garda Vetting Unit. Unfortunately, potential volunteers are not permitted to volunteer with our organisation until the Garda Vetting Process has been completed and approved.
