TRAINING WITH A GUIDE DOG

Our Client Services team are in place to guide all potential service users through the process from first point of contact to their eventual training. Applicants for a guide dog are requested to provide medical details, which, together with a home-based assessment allow us to evaluate each individual’s suitability for training. Those accepted are matched with an appropriate dog according to their physical characteristics, walking speed, lifestyle and home environment. Trainees attend our three-week residential course, providing them with the necessary practical training to reach a safe and efficient standard of mobility. The course also includes the basics of dog handling, feeding, grooming and vet care, as well as the opportunity to share experiences and make new friends.
