Twenty one year old Danielle Hasson from Glanmire, Cork is the lucky winner of our Ford Focus Raffle. The lucky ticket was drawn by the Deputy Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr. Ken O'Flynn at the Metropole Hotel in Cork on Sunday evening, October 30th. Danielle's delight could be heard by all at the draw as she received the good news from Cllr O’Flynn via mobile phone on speaker.
Danielle bought her ticket on Friday afternoon from one of our volunteers on Patrick Street and couldn't believe that just two days later, she was the lucky winner.
The draw has generated a whopping €55,000 to date with the final total set to exceed this figure. Pictured holding the winning ticket is our CEO, Padraig Mallon with Eddie Murphy, Chairman & Managing Director of Ford Ireland (left) and the Deputy Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr. Ken O'Flynn with pup in training Roxy.
Speaking at the draw, Padraig Mallon said, “We are very grateful to Ford who generously donated the Ford Focus and to the Cork Jazz Committee who gave us the opportunity as their charity partner. Our staff, volunteers and clients made a huge effort to sell the tickets at events, in shopping centres and on Patrick Street Cork during the week of the Jazz Festival where our dogs and the car were a great attraction. We had huge support from the public who all in all purchased over 11,000 tickets, a real vote of confidence in Irish Guide Dogs and the work which we do. The success of the Focus Raffle is a testament to all the hard work which went into it from volunteers and staff over the past month. The money raised will help fund our life changing services – a great result all round!“
From all of us, a big thank you.
