Staying at our National Headquarters and Training Centre

All of the training courses offered by Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind take place at our National Headquarters and Training Centre on the Model Farm Road in Cork.

We make every effort to provide a safe “home from home” while you are training with us. Our buildings were recently refurbished and designed with the needs of our clients in mind.  Indoor and outdoor tactile surfaces as well as the use of colour contrast can help new clients to navigate easily.

All of our staff have received sighted guide training in order to help clients, if needed. We also provide twenty-four hour support from onsite staff.

Facilities at our Centre include:
o    Ensuite bedrooms with colour contrasting walls and safety features
o    A large canteen area where meals are cooked for clients (please inform us if you have dietary requirements)
o    Spacious client lounge equipped with a piano, sound system, television and board games
o    Computer room with open internet access
o    Small gym
o    Sensory garden
o    Training Kitchen
o    Upstairs Lounge
