On October 23rd, our New York Branch held their 16th annual fundraising dance at Rory Dolans in Yonkers, New York. Kevin Kennedy and his hard working committee have established this event as one of the highlights of the New York Irish social scene.
As he has done for years, Rory Dolan very kindly donates his venue for the night sponsoring the meal, prizes staff and more. It is a wonderfully generous gesture from one of New York’s most successful resteraunteurs and is a measure of the respect for Kevin Kennedy and Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind amongst the community there.
Musician Gerard Corbett kept the crowds entertained and in keeping with the tradition of the event there was a special performance by the New York Police Department pipe and drum band.
Speaking at the event, Chief Executive Padraig Mallon thanked all of the supporters paying special tribute to Kevin Kennedy for his hard work over the years. He spoke of how much it meant to all associated with Irish Guide Dogs to know that there was such great support for our work in the busy world of the big apple.
Preparations are all ready underway for next year's event. We salute Kevin and the group in New York for their wonderful support over so many years.
