“While a friend got me involved initially, it was a meeting with a Guide Dog Owner that inspired me to keep going. Seeing the difference a working Guide or Assistance dog makes to an individual or family’s life is simply remarkable and I am glad to be part of the team of people who help make this possible.” Frank Downes, Fundraising Branch Chairman (Galway)
It is only through the public's generosity that we are able to help persons who are blind or vision impaired and families of children with autism (by providing Assistance Dogs) achieve independence and mobility. 80% of our income comes from fundraising and donations from the public.
There are many different ways you can help, you can donate to us or through volunteering your time and skills. Getting involved can be very rewarding and we value your support.
Our annual national fundraising campaign SHADES is taking place from April 29th - May 3rd nationwide. We are seeking volunteers nationwide to donate 2 hours of your time. We are raising funds to decrease our waiting lists which range from 1 to over 3 years for each our our services. Please click here to find out more about SHADES 2013 or contact fundraising@guidedogs.ie to register to help us in your town.
