Recently a group of five' students from across Ireland have been attending our Next Step training programme.
This programme aims to equip young people who are blind or vision impaired with the skills to manage the transition to life in college or the workplace. It is practical and supportive with hands on activities aimed at overcoming the challenges which participants are likely to face.
Participants learn about shopping and budgeting skills, cooking skills, IT technology and confidence skills. Confidence is an issue all teenagers face, this year image consultant Caroline Ryan of Style by Caroline gave a talk to our participants, where she spoke about building confidence, handling difficult situations such as meeting new people or preparing for an interview along with style tips.
"This is a great part of the course and the students love it, and we are so grateful to Caroline for donating her time so kindly" says Aoife.
