Oodles of Doodles!

Author: Niamh Daly
Date: Sunday 25 July, 2010

Our Poodle brood bitch Izzy who is cared for by our Breeding Supervisor Michael Edmonds had her pups during the night Friday 16th. She had 8 pups in total: 4 black males, 3 black females and the very last pup to arrive was a yellow female. These pups will all have names beginning with the letter 'H'. As the father of these pups is a Golden Retriever, they are called Goldendoodles! Goldendoodles and Labradoodles look very different in appearance. Goldendoodles have a very curly coat which is quite soft to touch and more poodle-like. Labradoodles have a more shaggy, wiry coat and people often think they are part Irish Wolfhound! As you can imagine, both breeds tend to attract a lot of attention when out and about.  One of the benefits of our doodle breeds is that they shed significantly less hair than other breeds and are therefore ideal for clients who have allergies.  These lovely photographs were taken a day or two after the pups were born.  You'll notice a kind of pinky hue in the picture on the left.  That's from the special lights our Breeding Stock Holders use to keep the puppies warm.

Proud mum Izzy seen here with her 9 Goldendoodle pups suckling Nine Goldendoodle Puppies - 8 black and 1 golden - all fast asleep together

What beautiful pups congratulations. I am applying to become a Puppy Walker and would be delighted to receive one or any of the Dogs and help with the association.

Izzy's pups are doing really well, they are walking about, albeit unsteadily at times and are currently being weaned onto solid feed.

Well done to Izzy. All her puppies are adorable and we can't wait to puppy walk one of her puppies!
